Members of Standing Committees are selected for their expertise, knowledge or interest and provide informed research and advice to all levels of the organisation.   They provide leadership in the preparation of submissions to government at both State and Federal levels.

National Council of Women has supported causes including equal pay for work of equal value; integration and support for migrant women and their families; improvements in childcare services and availability; measures against environmental pollution, and has striven for a more realistic portrayal of women in the media.

It has initiated or participated in enquiries and  research projects into drug addiction; causes of suicide; cancer; domestic violence; consumer protection; eating disorders; the labelling of genetically modified foods; women and mobile phones, and numerous other issues.

Nicknamed “Stirrers with Style”, NCWA represents some three million women throughout Australia, each with the will, the skill and the desire to right wrongs and achieve improvements for women, their families and the community.
